Work Experience
This page was made by people doing work experience. It will tell you all about how you will spend your day and the countless things you have the possibility to learn!
If I do work experience what will my day look like?
What your day looks like will depend on your interests, as well as any requirements your school or college might have for your placement. However, a brief outline of your day could look something like this:
Work Experience Timetable
Morning
You will meet a member of the MO team in the lobby of The Keep. They will show you where you can leave your bag and food.
You will have a tour of The Keep and be introduced to the staff in the building. You will learn about the building and what is stored here.
You will complete health and safety training.
You get the opportunity to go into the stores and pick out different materials from the Mass Observation Archive which match your interests. In the past students have looked at The World Cup, Music and Dancing, Immigration Policy and Dear 16 Year Old me.
Lunch (There’s no shop at The Keep, so make sure to bring food with you!)
Afternoon
You will have a task to complete this could be:
- Creating content for our social media
- Writing an article for our website
- Transcribing diaries
Your day will usually end around 3pm.

Who might like doing work experience at the Mass Observation Archive?
If you like reading, history, politics or sociology this is good placement for you! You might also be interested in working in a museum or library.
