Teaching the History of Appeasement

Mass Observation materials feature in new resources for teaching the History of Appeasement.

Professor Julie. V. Gottlieb, Dept. of History, University of Sheffield in partnership with the Historical Association have explored new ways for introducing and teaching the history of appeasement in schools. The resources use Mass Observation materials to demonstrate contemporary public opinion and feeling towards appeasement.

The free to access resources look at ways teachers could introduce the subject, as well as how Mass Observation materials can be used as sources in the classroom to support thinking and discussion.
